Born in a faraway land, Marcus Blood-Tiger was a soldier. Was.
After winning a decisive victory for a leader he respected, he began to move up the ranks of a formidable military. As Marcus gained notoriety in his community, there were those that were envious of his quick rise. A man named Quintus decided that he had had enough of Marcus.
Quintus set about gathering all the information he could about anybody close to Marcus. He wanted to expose him as the man Quintus had always suspected he was. A traitor. Quintus was convinced that Marcus had supporters in high places that were backing a vie for power. This, however, was not the case. Marcus simply wanted to serve the land, and protect it to the best of his ability.
Quintus was extorting and torturing anybody he could to try to get information. This was proving fruitless though. Marcus was an honorable individual. So Quintus in a fit of rage decided that the best course of action was to go and kill Marcus’s wife and children. He burned them alive on a pyre, on accusations of supporting a traitor (in their culture, a formal accusation was enough to warrant punishment).
Marcus of course wanted revenge on Quintus for killing the people that were dearest to him. But he had to deal with the accusation of conspiracy to commit treason. So he ran. He ran a very very long way (think Forest Gump).
(More to come)
But after conspiracy, being forced to fight in the pits, and his family being executed, Marcus escaped to Eastmarsh to move on.
Strength and Honor.
